Tru Niagen is a brand of nicotinamide riboside (NR), a NAD+ precursor, and its standard 300mg capsule costs £1.39 a day in the UK (£124.95 for 90 capsules on Amazon UK, checked 24 October 2026). RGENR8 Pure NMN Pro, 500mg of nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN), another NAD+ precursor, costs 31p a day on the 3-month plan, which is £27.99 for 90 capsules on your first order with code WELCOME20. In the only head-to-head trial we found, NR and NMN raised blood NAD+ by a similar amount over 14 days.

Cost per day is the pack price divided by the number of capsules at one capsule a day. Cost per gram is the pack price divided by the grams of NR chloride (0.3g a capsule) or NMN (0.5g a capsule) in the pack. Tru Niagen prices change, so check the current price before you buy.
NR vs NMN in one paragraph
NR and NMN are two forms of vitamin B3 that the body turns into NAD+, a molecule cells use in energy metabolism. The only trial we know of that gave both to people for the same 14 days found whole-blood NAD+ rose by a comparable amount on each, and did not rise on nicotinamide (Christen 2026). It was open-label and sponsored by Nestlé, so treat it as a first look. NR has the longer research record and a GB novel food authorisation. NMN costs less per day and has none yet. Price comparison: Tru Niagen vs NMN per day, per gram and per year
At one capsule a day, Tru Niagen's 90 capsule pack costs £1.39 a day. That is about 4.5 times RGENR8's 31p on a first order and 3.6 times our 39p after that. Subscribe & Save at 10% off takes Tru Niagen to £1.25 a day, and Amazon's 15% tier (five or more subscribed products in one delivery) to about £1.18.
Over a year (four 90 capsule packs, 360 days) the gap is a few hundred pounds.
| Option | Price per 90 capsules | Four packs (360 days) |
|---|---|---|
| Tru Niagen 300mg, one-off | £124.95 | £499.80 |
| Tru Niagen 300mg, Subscribe & Save at 10% off | £112.45 | £449.80 |
| RGENR8 Pure NMN Pro 500mg, 3-month plan | £27.99 first order, then £34.99 | £132.96 |
| RGENR8 Pure NMN Pro 500mg, 3-pack one-off | £34.99 | £139.96 |
The sum for a year of NMN on the 3-month plan is £27.99 + 3 × £34.99 = £132.96, which is £366.84 less than a year of Tru Niagen at the one-off price and £316.84 less than on Subscribe & Save. In our UK NMN Price Index, RGENR8's first order is the lowest first-order price per gram for 500mg capsule packs under 1,000 capsules, at £0.62 a gram.
The doses differ because the molecules do. NR's GB authorisation caps a supplement at 300mg of NR chloride a day, which is why Tru Niagen is a 300mg capsule, and RGENR8 sells NMN at 500mg. Cost per day at the label dose is the fair comparison. The per-gram figures are there for anyone who wants them.

Evidence comparison: how many trials and what they measured
NR has the longer record, with trials going back to 2017. PubMed now lists 31 records tagged as randomised controlled trials of nicotinamide riboside (search run 24 October 2026). That count includes NR given with other ingredients, secondary analyses and trials in patient groups, so it overstates the number of separate trials in healthy adults. In healthy and overweight adults, Conze 2019 found that 100, 300 and 1,000mg a day for 8 weeks raised whole-blood NAD+ by 22%, 51% and 142%. ChromaDex, the company behind Tru Niagen, funded that study. Martens 2018 gave 1,000mg a day for 6 weeks to healthy middle-aged and older adults and found it was well tolerated and stimulated NAD+ metabolism. Not every outcome moved: in Dollerup 2018, 12 weeks of 2,000mg a day did not improve insulin sensitivity in obese men.
NMN's record is newer. Our NMN human trials dataset lists 25 published trials of oral NMN from 2020 to 2026, with 884 participants in all and 17 trials placebo-controlled. Fifteen of the 25 used no more than 600mg a day. In Yi 2023, blood NAD rose in every NMN group (300, 600 and 900mg a day for 60 days), and Igarashi 2022 found higher whole-blood NAD+ in older men on 250mg a day. Several NMN trials had company funding, and the dataset records who paid for each one.
An independent 2026 systematic review of 33 human studies of NAD+ boosters found that oral NR and NMN both reliably raised NAD-related measures in blood or cells, while effects on function, blood sugar and blood vessels varied and were often null. So on raising blood NAD+, neither has a trial edge. NR has more trials and more patient-group research behind it.
Who might choose which
Tru Niagen suits you if you specifically want NR, or an ingredient with a GB novel food authorisation, and you are happy paying £1.25 to £1.67 a day. It also has the longer research record.
NMN suits you if cost per day matters most and you want a single 500mg capsule with nothing else in it. Read the legal position first: NMN has no GB novel food authorisation yet and RP-2116 is still at risk assessment. We explain what that means in Is NMN legal in the UK?
RGENR8 Pure NMN Pro is 500mg of beta-NMN per capsule, at least 99% purity, in a vegan HPMC shell with no fillers or binders. Every batch is tested by an independent accredited lab (Certificate of Analysis on request). A bottle of 30 is £24.95, UK delivery is free, and unopened bottles have a 14-day money-back guarantee. Common questions
Is Tru Niagen available in the UK?
Yes. Tru Niagen has a UK website that links buyers to Amazon UK, where the 30 and 90 capsule packs are sold by TruNiagen (checked 24 October 2026). Its ingredient, nicotinamide riboside chloride, is an authorised novel food in Great Britain for food supplements, up to 300mg a day for the general adult population.
What is the Tru Niagen price in the UK?
On Amazon UK on 24 October 2026, 90 capsules of 300mg cost £124.95, which is £1.39 a day, or £112.45 (£1.25 a day) with Subscribe & Save at 10% off. The 30 capsule pack was £49.95, or £1.67 a day. RGENR8 Pure NMN Pro is 31p a day on the 3-month plan.
NR or NMN: which is better?
Neither has a proven edge. In the only head-to-head trial we found, 65 healthy adults took NR, NMN, nicotinamide or a placebo for 14 days, and NR and NMN raised whole-blood NAD+ by a comparable amount (Nature Metabolism 2026, open-label, sponsored by Nestlé). NR costs about £1.39 a day in the UK and has a GB novel food authorisation. NMN costs from 31p a day and has no authorisation yet.
Can you take NR and NMN together?
We found no published human trial in which people took NR and NMN together (PubMed search, 24 October 2026). Each raised NAD+ on its own in the 2026 head-to-head trial, so there is no trial evidence that adding the second one raises it further. If you take medication or have a health condition, ask your GP or pharmacist first.
What is a Tru Niagen alternative in the UK?
The closest alternative is NMN, another NAD+ precursor. RGENR8 Pure NMN Pro is 500mg of beta-NMN per capsule, at 31p a day on the 3-month plan (£27.99 for 90 capsules on your first order with code WELCOME20), against £1.39 a day for Tru Niagen. NMN has no GB novel food authorisation yet, so if an authorised ingredient is a requirement, the alternative is another NR product.
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or managing a health condition, check with your GP or pharmacist before taking any supplement.
